The Boppy has been the underdog of our various baby paraphenalia, that has recently come screaming into the frontrunners. It came highly recommended in our pre-baby research, but I will admit we were disappointed with it in the first months after my daughter was born. If you are working on Baby #1, just give it a couple months - it will quickly become priceless.My husband uses it in his lap every night as he sits in the recliner, my daughter facing him. This entertains her during her fussiest time of the day while he is able to successfully eat dinner, watch a little tv (while preventing her from watching tv), and put on what we affectionately term the "Super Rock" to get her to sleep at bedtime.
I use it all day long as a baby seat beside me on the couch as I do feedings, play endless silly face games, and, lately, teach her to sit up in it. It is also perfect for modified tummy time if you have a baby that hates tummy time.
My daughter loves it because she is sitting up just enough to look around without taxing her newly developing muscles so much that she gets tired. It's soft enough to fall onto when we have impromptu sitting-up lessons. It's snuggly enough to take a nap in. It's absorbent, easily washed, and easily tossed between my husband and I during the evening handoffs. A must buy.
